Surviving Your First Workshop - A class for beginners (and the nervous)
We’ve all been there - wanting to go to that first belly dance workshop, but being too scared to take the leap.
This workshop is for you, nervous person!
Whether you’re a beginner or a reluctant experienced dancer, anxiety can often dampen our workshop excitement, distract us from getting the most out of the class or, even worse, it can keep us from attending.
Let’s combat that anxiety with some tips, tricks and tools I’ve learned from being an anxious performer myself and from teaching beginner classes and workshops for six years.
We’ll discuss how to prepare for a workshop, workshop etiquette, what to do if you feel overwhelmed, how to choose workshops to suit your experience level, and how to get the most out of your workshop experience. We’ll also talk about how to connect with your belly dance community and where to find classes, workshops and events in your area.
And we’ll do a little dancing and learn a short choreography, so you can get that first workshop experience under your belt (or hip scarf).
